As this is my first book haul I would like to offer I small disclaimer (?!) What I want to do for my book hauls is to present to you the books that I buy, why I bought them, and what I remember about the story. No cheating by reading synopses or Goodreads.

So I went a little overboard with me June book buying. Just a little… In my defense, I was left unsupervised and … yeah. I got nothing. I just bought a ton of books because I have no self-control, so let’s get going!

All I could say in my defense is that the cover is absolutely stunning and that’s the reason I got it. As this list grows you will come to realize I am a sucker for a pretty cover and most of my buys are based on judging books by covers.
There is a pirate name Florian and a lady … something, I am sure her parents gave her a name. What really got my attention is that Florian was born Flora. I don’t think I’ve read a book with a trans character before and this is my first step towards changing that!

This book is my shame, I bought it because of twitter. These 3 books were coming out on June 2nd they were all over the place. I decided to order all 3 because why not? who needs food anyway? This one was the one I was least excited about, I couldn’t say why and guess what? this one was the first to arrive so I read it and loved it and now I will spend the rest of my life recommending it to wash my sins. I will post a review when I will be able to coherently explain why this is the best book written in 2020. Please bear with me.

This is the second of the 3 June 2nd releases and while I don’t remember a lot, except there are sirens and somebody dies and everybody blames the sirenes in town. I think. Don’t quote me on that, I got it because of sirens and cover and twitter hype.
Yup, that’s all I have. I order the book from Bookdepository and I expect it any time now. And I mean literally. half of the time and I am looking out through the window hoping to see the postman with my books.

And this is the 3rd of the books released on June 2nd, I ordered at the same time with A song below water so I am waiting very impatiently for it.
Of the three I think this one is the one I remember most about and the one I was the most excited to read. It tells the story of Liz a girl that wants to get out of her small town but her plan fails when she loses her financial aid for college so she decides to try winning prom Queen because it comes with a college scholarship. The only problem is that the new cute girl is also running for prom Queen. I am a sucker for cute romance!

This is another that I can’t really comment about yet because I just finished it and my heart is still not ready.
Anyhow this one follows Nishat and Flávia who, both decide to open a henna business for their school assignment. The problem is that Flávia is appropriating Nishat culture and that Nishat is very gay for Flávia and so you get one of the cutest stories. Still, the book is so much more, and I will talk about all this in a future review. Soon.

Siben Minuten nach Mitternacht or A monster calls is a book that I read a while ago but in romanian and I decide to get it now in german because I want to reread it (I don’t remember a lot of it, but I stayed with me like an extraordinary and heartbreaking story) and I want to use it to practice my german.
I will go more quickly through the others because I don’t remember a lot about them and I mostly got them in a whim.
The Diviners by Libba Bray – I heard a lot about this book and I found it super cheap on a second-hand site. Only problem? It is also in german so give me a second.
Caraval by Stephanie Garber – Same story, one of my bookstagram friends kept telling me that I have to read this one, found it super cheap, and had to buy it.
This savage song + Our dark duet by V.E. Schwab – I have a problem with Victoria Schwab and I would buy even her grocery list. Don’t judge me.
The Mythic Dream – twitter plus completely stunning cover (do you see a pattern here?)
The Fascinators by Andrew Eliopulos – bookstagram hype (I accept I have a problem)
Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir – I read an excerpt from it from amazon and I had to have it.
The Girl and the Stars by Mark Lawrence – which is a stunning copy from the May Illumicrate box.
This was a long list, you would think I won’t need any more books anytime soon, but hey next month is my birthday and I will treat myself!!!
